Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Siwan police neutralized Sonu Yadav, the prime suspect in the high-profile murder of Harsh Singh, during a fierce encounter early Sunday morning. The gunfight occurred around 4:00 AM on May 3, 2026, near Laddi village under the Jamo police station jurisdiction. Acting on specific intelligence regarding his location, a police team set up a vehicle checkpoint and surrounded the suspect, who reportedly opened fire on the officers to evade capture. In the ensuing retaliatory fire, Yadav sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest and died at the scene.
Sonu Yadav, a resident of Sareya village, was the key figure behind the brutal attack on April 26 that left Harsh Singh, the nephew of BJP leader Manoj Singh, dead. The incident originated from a minor road rage dispute near the Laxmipur Andar Dhala overpass, where an argument over giving side to a car escalated into violence. The assailants allegedly pulled weapons from their vehicle and opened fire indiscriminately, killing Harsh Singh instantly and critically injuring his brother-in-law, Chandan Singh, who is currently undergoing treatment in Patna.
This encounter marks the fourth such police action under the administration of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, signaling a hardening stance against violent crime in the state. Previously, on April 30, another accused in the same murder case, Chhotu Yadav, was arrested after being shot in the leg during a confrontation with police. Additionally, an accomplice named Sunil Yadav has also been taken into custody. The police have been under immense pressure to deliver justice since the daylight murder of a political figure's kin shocked the local community.
