Police shot alleged rapists of a 6-year-old; capture them in UP's Bulandshahr

A six-year-old girl was gang-raped and murdered on the night of January 2 in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr. The accused, identified as Raju and Veeru Kashyap, were tenants living in the same building as the victim's family. According to the police, the child was lured away while playing on the rooftop, where she was brutally assaulted. To hide their crime, the duo allegedly threw the girl from the roof into a field behind the building.

The incident came to light when the father found his daughter in a critically injured condition and rushed her to the Sikandrabad Community Health Centre, where she was declared dead. Acting on the father's formal complaint, the police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act. The Senior Superintendent of Police immediately formed three dedicated teams to track down the suspects who had fled the scene.

The pursuit ended in a dramatic police encounter in an under-construction colony. When the Sikandrabad police surrounded their hideout, the accused allegedly opened fire to evade arrest. In the retaliatory firing, both Raju and Veeru sustained bullet injuries to their legs. They were apprehended in an injured state and admitted to a hospital under heavy guard.
