Kolkata is experiencing traffic disruptions today due to a protest rally of Trinamool led by CM Mamata Banerjee, with several key roads closed. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Police have issued a public advisory to counter misinformation regarding crowd management measures for the upcoming Durga Puja 2025.
The police explicitly clarified that no directive has been issued to halt or restrict any Durga Puja celebrations, emphasizing that their primary focus is solely on ensuring public safety during the highly anticipated festivities, which attract massive crowds across the city.
Due to the ongoing program, specific traffic diversions have been implemented. College Street, northbound, is closed from BB Ganguly Street, affecting commuter flow in that area. Eden Hospital Road is also inaccessible from C R Avenue, adding to the traffic changes.
Furthermore, Colootala Street is closed from C R Avenue, and N C Street is closed from Lenin Sarani, creating multiple points of disruption for drivers navigating the city. Commuters are advised to seek alternative routes.
