Kaliaganj, a town in North Dinajpur, has once again witnessed chaos and violence on Tuesday as locals took to the streets to protest against the alleged rape of a girl student.
The protesters, mainly consisting of tribals and Kamtapuris, gathered in front of the Kaliaganj police station, demanding justice for the victim.
However, the situation quickly escalated as the police resorted to lathi-charge and tear gas shells to disperse the protesters, who responded by throwing bricks and stones at the law enforcement officials.
The situation soon turned into a full-blown riot as the angry mob set fire to the police station, leading to the destruction of several vehicles parked in the area.
This incident follows a series of protests that have been ongoing in Kaliaganj for the past few days, with locals expressing their anger and frustration over the alleged rape and murder of a tribal girl. The police have been trying to maintain law and order in the area but have faced intense backlash from the locals.
