An IndiGo flight from Delhi was forced to remain airborne for nearly 39 minutes on Sunday evening due to adverse weather conditions at Deoghar Airport. The aircraft, scheduled to arrive at 7:35 PM, had already reached the vicinity of the airport when the weather suddenly deteriorated. Dense clouds covered the sky and light rain began to fall, significantly reducing visibility and preventing immediate landing clearance.
Air Traffic Control instructed the pilot to keep the aircraft on hold until conditions improved. During this period, the plane continued circling above Deoghar Airport while the pilot closely monitored the weather situation. The extended holding pattern caused temporary discomfort among passengers as the aircraft remained in the air waiting for safe landing conditions. After visibility improved slightly, Air Traffic Control finally granted permission for landing. The pilot then successfully brought the aircraft down on the runway at around 8:15 PM. A total of 178 passengers were on board the flight, all of whom were reported safe after the aircraft landed without incident.
Airport authorities confirmed that the delay was caused primarily by poor visibility and unfavorable weather conditions. Flight Manager Joy Banerjee stated that safety considerations required the aircraft to remain airborne until conditions were suitable for landing. Following the arrival, the return IndiGo flight from Deoghar to Delhi departed at 8:45 PM carrying 178 passengers.
