Possible heat relief in South Bengal with forecast of rain and strong winds

The Meteorological Office has predicted a possible relief from the scorching heat in South Bengal, including Kolkata, due to a strong wind change.

The Alipore Meteorological Department has forecasted rain in all districts of South Bengal on Sunday and Monday, with stormy rains expected in Kolkata. Some districts may also receive rain from Friday onwards. The temperature is expected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees, but until Friday, heatwave conditions are likely to persist in many districts of the state.

The current maximum temperature in Kolkata is forecasted to reach 40.6 degree Celsius, which is five degrees higher than normal, with a minimum temperature of 29.1 degree Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department's statement on Thursday. While the heatwave warning remains in effect, the possibility of rain and strong winds offers some hope for relief to the residents of the region.
