Political tension escalated in Howrah on Sunday after posters targeting Central Howrah MLA and former minister Arup Roy appeared in multiple locations across the city. The posters referred to him as “traitor Arup,” prompting political reactions and debate in the region.
The posters were reportedly displayed in several prominent areas of Howrah city and carried the name “Amra Didir Sainik” (We are Didi’s soldiers). They alleged that Arup Roy had deviated from the party line by making statements supporting the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and by attempting to convey a message contrary to the party’s official position.
The posters also contained strong criticism of the former minister, accusing him of anti-party activities. However, the identity of those responsible for putting up the posters has not been officially confirmed, and no organisation or group has claimed responsibility for them. The matter has contributed to heightened political discussion in the area.
