Prashant Kishor’s Party announces second list of 65 candidates for Bihar elections

The Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraaj Party on Monday released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, announcing names for 65 more constituencies. With this, the party has so far declared candidates for 116 seats across the state. However, Kishor’s own name, expected to feature from Raghopur against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, was notably missing from the list.

Addressing a press conference in Patna, Kishor said the remaining candidates would be announced in the coming days. He highlighted the party’s focus on inclusivity and social representation, stating that among the candidates named so far, 31 belong to the extremely weaker sections, 21 to Other Backward Classes, and 21 are Muslims.

The Jan Suraaj Party has also fielded Kamlesh Paswan from Harnaut, a seat long seen as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s stronghold, though Kumar hasn’t contested an election there in nearly three decades. Kishor emphasized that the party’s candidate selection process reflects its vision of empowering marginalized communities and breaking traditional caste-based politics in Bihar.
