President Droupadi Murmu visits Belur Math

President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday visited Belur Math in Howrah during her first two-day visit to West Bengal. She will also attend the 80 years celebrations of UCO Bank in Kolkata later in the day. The President will visit Santiniketan where she will attend the annual convocation ceremony of Visva-Bharati.

President Draupadi Murmu reached Kolkata on Monday on a two-day West Bengal tour. He was received by State Governor CV Anand Bose and Minister Firhad Hakim. Murmu said on Monday that the people of the state have always been cultured and progressive.

“The people of Bengal are cultured and progressive. The land of Bengal has given birth to immortal revolutionaries on one hand and eminent scientists on the other. From politics to justice system, from science to philosophy, from spirituality to sports, from culture to sports From business, journalism to literature, cinema, music, drama, painting and other art forms, remarkable pioneers of Bengal have found new ways and means in many fields,” he said on the first day of his visit to the state.

Murmu attended a civic reception organized in his honor by the Government of West Bengal in Kolkata the same day.

Speaking on the occasion, the President thanked the government and people of West Bengal for the warm welcome extended to them. Appreciating the state, the President said that sacrifice and martyrdom, culture and education have been role models in life in the land of Bengal.

“Even after reaching the pinnacle of success, the people of Bengal maintain their connection with their soil and keep increasing the pride of Mother India. The people of Bengal have always given priority to the ideals of social justice, equality and self-respect.” ,” she added.
