NCP leader Baba Siddique shot multiple times and dies in Mumbai Hospital
President Droupadi Murmu expressed deep concern over the humiliation of the Vice President within the Parliament premises, following a mimicry incident involving suspended TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee. President Murmu, in a social media post, stated her dismay over the incident, emphasizing the need for elected representatives to express themselves within the norms of dignity and courtesy.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar revealed that PM Modi had called him, expressing pain over the theatrics, considering it unfortunate to witness such incidents in the sacred Parliament complex.
In response to the PM's call, Vice President Dhankhar asserted his commitment to upholding constitutional values despite the insults. The Congress party, however, claimed that the mimicry incident was a diversionary tactic to shift public attention away from the suspension of 141 MPs.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi demanded an apology from the opposition, accusing them of attempting to belittle the image of the Vice President and highlighting past instances of disrespect towards President Droupadi Murmu. The situation escalated as 49 more opposition MPs were suspended from Lok Sabha for 'misconduct' during the ongoing monsoon session.
