Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The streets of Kolkata witnessed heightened activity on Friday as supporters of the Sangrami Samyukta Mancha staged demonstrations in support of a statewide strike. One of the most striking scenes unfolded outside Khadya Bhawan, where protesters adopted an unusual and symbolic method to express their dissent.
Instead of preventing government employees from entering the office premises, demonstrators welcomed them with roses and appealed to them to support the strike. The gesture was intended as a peaceful appeal, encouraging employees to stand in solidarity with the ongoing movement.
As government vehicles attempted to enter through the main gate of Khadya Bhawan, protesters formed a human chain to block their passage. The action, described by participants as an act of "Gandhigiri", aimed to demonstrate opposition to government policies while maintaining a non-violent approach.
Despite tight security arrangements by the administration in the area, the unusual “rose protest” drew attention from passersby as well as police personnel present at the site. The symbolic demonstration became one of the most talked-about scenes in the city during the strike.
