Protests greet BJP leader Agnimitra Paul during visit to families of Balasore train accident victims

BJP leader Agnimitra Paul encountered protests when she attempted to meet the families of those killed in the Balasore train accident. Allegedly, several Trinamool supporters obstructed her car in the Shivkaligar area of Kakdwip, South 24 Parganas, and raised slogans against her. This incident has sparked political rhetoric.

Fifteen individuals from Madhusudanpur in Kakdwip were affected by the Coromandel Express accident, and three bodies have been identified. Agnimitra Paul, a BJP leader, visited the missing persons and the relatives of the deceased.

Around 12 noon, Agnimitra Paul went to the residence of the deceased youth, Mainuddin Shaikh. It is claimed that Trinamool supporters stopped her car in the Shivkaligarh area and initiated protests. The regional president of Trinamool was also present during the incident.

Trinamool alleges that many individuals are still missing in the area, causing concern among local residents. They argue that Agnimitra's arrival in the region is seen as a political move and, therefore, she will not be allowed entry. An argument ensued between Agnimitra and the Trinamool leader.

This is not the first time that the BJP leader has faced opposition in Kakdwip. Go-back slogans were raised against her, and protests even involved throwing wood chips on the streets. Despite the obstacles, Agnimitra managed to meet only the family members of deceased Buddhadev Bagh. She was unable to meet anyone else.

The Trinamool Congress claims that there is public anger towards BJP leaders. Agnimitra stated, "I have come to support the families of the victims, but Trinamool Congress supporters obstructed me. I question why the Center did not provide funds for 100 days of work, which resulted in unnecessary protests."

In response to the protests against Agnimitra Paul, TMC leaders assert that there is widespread resentment against BJP leaders in the state. They argue that people from every district in the state have lost their lives in train accidents, yet BJP leaders are exploiting the situation for political gain.
