Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Punjab Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar resigned from his post after controversy erupted over the alleged suicide of a senior official of the Punjab Warehousing Corporation in Amritsar. The resignation came after Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asked him to step down to ensure a fair investigation into the case.
The deceased official, identified as Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, served as a district manager with the warehousing corporation. Reports indicate that before his death, Randhawa allegedly recorded a video statement in which he named Bhullar and accused him of harassment. The video surfaced online and triggered a political uproar across the state. Following the controversy, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accepted Bhullar’s resignation and directed the Chief Secretary to conduct an impartial inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death. The government stated that the resignation was necessary to ensure the investigation proceeds without any influence.
The incident has also sparked strong reactions from opposition leaders, who have demanded a thorough probe and accountability. Meanwhile, Bhullar has reportedly denied the allegations against him, calling them baseless, as the state government moves ahead with its investigation into the tragic case.
