Punjab’s Instagram-famous constable Amandeep Kaur caught with 17 grams heroin

Amandeep Kaur, a senior woman constable with a glamorous online persona and over 37,000 followers on Instagram, has been arrested by Punjab Police for possessing heroin. The arrest took place on Wednesday during a joint operation by the police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Bathinda, under the state’s ongoing anti-drug campaign, Yudh Nasheyan Virudh.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Harbans Singh Dhaliwal, a Mahindra Thar SUV was intercepted near the Badal flyover after receiving a tip-off. The vehicle was being driven by Amandeep Kaur and accompanied by a man named Jaswant Singh. A search led to the discovery of 17.71 grams of heroin in the vehicle.

Amandeep Kaur, previously attached to Bathinda Police Lines while officially deployed with Mansa Police, was immediately dismissed from service following her arrest. She has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Kaur, known by her social media handle @police_kaurdeep, frequently posted videos in uniform, singing along to Punjabi hits and flashing high-end accessories. Her posts also included tributes to slain singer Sidhu Moosewala. The Punjab DGP had earlier directed officers not to post such modelling content while in uniform — an order Kaur appeared to flout.

The case has taken an additional controversial turn. A woman named Gurmeet Kaur, in a viral Facebook video, accused Amandeep of being in a live-in relationship with her husband, Balwinder Singh, an ambulance driver. She alleged that the duo used the ambulance to sell heroin and also claimed Amandeep owned property worth crores, including luxury watches and cars. Gurmeet had reportedly informed the police earlier, but no action was taken at the time.

Authorities are now investigating the origins of the heroin, its intended destination, and whether Amandeep and her companion were part of a larger drug network.
