Police arrest 3 including Hemant Sikaria for investment fraud
Allegations of ragging surfaced at Narasinha Dutt College in Howrah, prompting protests by members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) on Monday. The protest targeted former Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) co-convenor Souvik Roy, who was allegedly present in the college’s union room where the incident reportedly took place.
During the demonstration outside the college, SFI activists carried an effigy of Souvik Roy. A man reportedly snatched the effigy from the protesters and fled into a nearby lane. SFI members chased and caught him, after which police reached the location and intervened to free the man from the crowd.
The situation escalated as a scuffle broke out between SFI activists and police officials. Two members of the student organisation were detained by the police. No official statement has been released by the college administration regarding the ragging allegations or the protest incident.
