The Lok Sabha witnessed a brief commotion on Tuesday after Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi raised concerns over alleged Chinese incursions in the Doklam region. His remarks triggered strong reactions from the treasury benches, leading to interruptions and protests inside the House.
During his address, Rahul Gandhi referred to the situation in Doklam and flagged what he described as Chinese incursions. He sought to draw the government’s attention to the issue, stressing its importance for national security and parliamentary discussion. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh responded by questioning the claims made by the opposition leader. Singh challenged the assertions raised on the floor of the House, leading to heightened exchanges between the opposition and the ruling side.
As the situation escalated, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla intervened and stopped Rahul Gandhi from continuing, citing parliamentary rules and procedures. The Speaker’s intervention helped restore order, though the issue sparked visible tension during the proceedings.
