Arrest warrant issued against Abhishek Banerjee's PA Sumit Roy
In a significant development for state-level cricket, the Rajasthan Cricket Association is preparing to launch the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL), a franchise-based tournament modeled on the Indian Premier League. The proposed league is expected to begin by September, offering a structured platform for local cricketers to showcase their talent.
According to officials, the ad-hoc committee overseeing the association is working on a detailed action plan, which includes introducing a player auction system similar to the IPL. Multiple franchise teams are expected to be formed, and matches will be designed to be competitive and engaging, with awards for standout performances. Necessary approvals are set to be sought from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, along with scheduling a suitable window for the tournament.
The committee has indicated that preparations will continue despite the upcoming elections within the Rajasthan Cricket Association. Efforts are being made to ensure a smooth transition so that the new executive body can take over without disruptions and carry forward the organisation of the league.
In addition to the league, the association is also planning an award ceremony to recognise talented players from across the state. Cricketers who have excelled at domestic and national levels will be honoured, with the aim of motivating young athletes. If implemented successfully, the RPL is expected to strengthen Rajasthan’s cricket ecosystem and provide a stepping stone for players aiming for higher-level opportunities.
