As the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya approaches, Kameshwar Chaupal, a member of the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust, has raised historical questions regarding the Congress party's role in the construction of the temple. Chaupal questioned why the Congress, during its governance in 1949, did not take the initiative to build the Ram Temple when the idol surfaced.
“In 1949, the Ram Idol surfaced, and the Congress was in government. No one could stand against Nehru. Why did they not take advantage of that opportunity? If they had built the Ram Temple, the BJP would have not needed to speak anything about it. Why did they not do it?” Kameshwar Chaupal, a trust member, asked.
He emphasized that if the Congress had taken action at that time, the BJP might not have needed to address the issue. Expressing doubt about the Congress's commitment, Chaupal stated that they could have built the temple in 1986 after opening the locks, and the party could have claimed credit for the project.
