All the cricket lovers have been waiting patiently for the biopic on their favorite Indian cricket legend, Sourav Ganguly. While we don't know when the biopic will see the light of day, recent reports reveal that the actor to play the much-awaited biopic has been finalized. A source close to the former Team India captain has revealed that Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has been roped in to play Ganguly on the silver screen in his upcoming biopic.
According to previous reports, the problem with Kapoor's available dates for the shoot created a delay in confirmation. However, reports have now revealed that the 'Barfi' star will be playing the 50-year-old cricketer on the silver screen. Previously, several big names from Bollywood such as Hrithik Roshan and Sidharth Malhotra started making the rounds of social media as curiosity surrounding the actor set to play Ganguly in his biopic increased.
The much-talked-about biopic was announced in 2019. While the actor set to play the legendary cricketer hasn't yet officially been announced, speculations suggest that it is Kapoor. To prepare for his role in the upcoming movie, the reports further reveal that Kapoor will be flying to Kolkata soon to visit the iconic Eden Gardens, the CAB office, and Ganguly's house.
Ganguly had previously clarified that he is in no hurry to get his biopic made, which is touted to be a big-budget film. The cricketer, fondly called Dada, had said that he wants everything in the biopic to be factually correct before starting the shoot. But as per reports, he has given his nod for the final draft of the film, which is set to start shooting soon in Kolkata.
