Ranchi gets organized vending zone at Morhabadi to ease street congestion

In a commendable move aimed at urban planning and the welfare of street vendors, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has taken a major step forward by developing a dedicated vending zone in the Morhabadi area. This initiative is expected to greatly benefit local fruit and vegetable sellers, temporary shopkeepers, and registered vendors by providing them with an organized and designated space to carry out their business operations.

The vending zone is designed not only to promote better livelihoods but also to minimize road congestion caused by unregulated street vending. With a structured setup, the zone will bring much-needed order to the streets and ensure smoother traffic flow while allowing vendors to work with dignity.

On Thursday, the Administrator of RMC conducted a detailed inspection of the vending zone. He was accompanied by key municipal officials, engineers, and staff members. During the visit, he reviewed the progress of the ongoing work and instructed the teams to complete the remaining tasks without delay so that shop allotment to vendors could begin at the earliest.

Officials present during the visit included the Additional Administrator, Assistant Administrator, City Investor, Urban Campaign Manager, and engineers from the municipal department. They discussed final layout plans, sanitation provisions, and traffic considerations for the site.

The vending zone is expected to be equipped with basic infrastructure, such as proper drainage, waste disposal facilities, electricity, and designated stalls for each vendor. Once operational, it will set a model for future urban vendor management projects across Ranchi and potentially other cities.
