BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has allegedly received a Rs 10 crore extortion threat, with investigators suspecting the involvement of the Bishnoi gang. The threat was sent through a voice note from an American number to the actor’s manager. The Mumbai Crime Branch has initiated a preliminary enquiry and tightened security around the actor.
According to police officials, preliminary findings suggest that a Bishnoi gang associate identified as Harry Boxer may have sent the WhatsApp voice message. Investigators have indicated that the voice in the note resembles his, though further evidence is being gathered to confirm the claim. Authorities have also begun the process of contacting relevant US agencies through official channels to trace the origin of the number used.
The threat reportedly surfaced shortly after a firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Mumbai. The voice note allegedly warned Ranveer Singh of severe consequences and claimed to have detailed information about his staff and their families. Crime Branch officials have recorded the statement of the actor’s manager as part of the ongoing enquiry.
Police have not registered an FIR so far but continue to examine the contents of the audio clip and its possible links to previous incidents. The name Harry Boxer had earlier surfaced in connection with threats issued after the firing outside Rohit Shetty’s residence and in other cases involving Bollywood figures.
Neither Ranveer Singh nor Rohit Shetty has issued a public statement on the matter. Investigations remain underway as authorities assess the credibility of the threat and explore potential connections with earlier cases attributed to the Bishnoi gang.
