No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Rape convict Asaram visited Ayodhya and offered prayers at the Ram Temple while out on interim bail granted on medical grounds. He arrived in the temple premises in a convoy of three vehicles and spent around 10 minutes praying before the idol of Ram Lalla before leaving after a brief visit.
During the visit, Asaram walked along the banks of the Saryu River where several followers greeted him with folded hands and some touched his feet. He later returned to Lakshman Kila, where he is currently staying during his time in the city.
Speaking during the visit, Asaram said he had come to Ayodhya only to have darshan of Ram Lalla. He also spoke about the significance of pilgrimage sites in India, stating that scriptures mention seven liberation-giving places—Ayodhya, Mathura, Maya (Haridwar), Kashi, Kanchi, Avantika and Puri.
He said the human body is influenced by three imbalances—vata, kapha and pitta—and claimed that visiting pilgrimage sites helps reduce their effects. According to him, Ayodhya holds the foremost place among such sacred locations mentioned in scriptures.
Asaram had arrived in Ayodhya a day earlier and walked around 300 metres along the Saryu riverbank in the evening. He had planned to visit Hanuman Garhi as well but reportedly skipped it due to the large number of steps leading to the temple.
He is currently out on six months’ interim bail granted by the Rajasthan High Court citing his advanced age and deteriorating health. Based on that order, the Gujarat High Court also granted him bail in another case with conditions, including police escort during his movements.
