In a remarkable turn of events, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a former member of Singapore's ruling party, dominated the presidential race by capturing a commanding 70.4% of the vote. This electoral triumph was achieved in a competitive three-way contest, which included two candidates of Chinese origin, as indicated by the sample count results released by the Election Department.
