India beats Bangladesh by 7 wickets in first T20, chase down total in 11.5 overs
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee explained why the recent meeting with junior doctors was not recorded, citing ongoing legal proceedings in the Supreme Court. Banerjee stated that although her team, including Manoj Pant, Rajiv Kumar, and Chandrima Bhattacharya, was prepared for an open discussion, the junior doctors did not agree to the terms.
"We came with an open mind. We are ready, but he did not agree," said Banerjee, adding that the entire meeting was set to be recorded with three cameras, but live streaming was halted due to the Supreme Court case.
"Our government has been insulted. Common people do not know there is a political colour to it. They do not want justice. They want the chair. In the interest of the people I am ready to step down. I do not want the post of the Chief Minister. I want justice. And I want common people to get medical treatment," Ms Banerjee said at a press conference after waiting two hours for the junior doctors' delegation.
Banerjee also emphasized the need for dialogue and understanding, saying, "Things get resolved by talking," and noted that she forgave the junior doctors, who she mentioned were younger. The CM stressed that media trials were not an option and that the government would follow court guidelines.
