Kolkata's Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport was placed on high alert on the evening of May 9, following security concerns related to a possible airstrike threat. All CISF personnel at the airport have been directed to heighten their vigilance to ensure the safety of passengers. The authorities are taking extra precautions due to the proximity of the airport to sensitive areas and potential risks associated with airstrikes, terrorists, sleeper cells, etc.
In response to the situation, the health department has implemented a set of emergency measures for hospitals located near the airport. Madhyamgram Florida Hospital, which lies in close vicinity, has been instructed to enhance its preparedness. A list of essential medical personnel, including surgeons and orthopedic specialists, has been prepared, and additional ICU beds are being set up to accommodate potential emergency cases. The hospital is also focusing on ensuring a steady supply of oxygen and operational ventilators.
Furthermore, the hospital is testing its backup systems, including generator sets, to ensure they are ready for any unforeseen events. In an effort to enhance security, a Red Cross symbol has been placed on the roof of Madhyamgram Florida Hospital, signaling its role as a safe zone for victims if the situation escalates.
