Senior IPS officer Manoj Verma has been shifted from his role as Director of Security and will now serve as the Additional Director of Security. This move follows a series of high-profile transfers aimed at streamlining the state’s security apparatus during the critical pre-election phase. Verma, who previously served as the Kolkata Police Commissioner, will now assist in overseeing VVIP security operations.
Taking over Verma's previous role, IPS Piyush Pandey has been reinstated as the Director of Security. Pandey, a seasoned officer with extensive experience in the Special Protection Group (SPG), had recently been serving as the acting Director General of Police (DGP) of the state. His return to the Directorate of Security is seen as a move to bring experienced leadership back to the wing responsible for the Chief Minister’s security, especially as political activity intensifies across the state.
Vineet Goyal, who has held several key positions, including Commissioner of Kolkata Police and ADG (Law and Order), has been appointed as the Director General of the Intelligence Branch (DG, IB). Simultaneously, Supratim Sarkar has been moved from his most recent assignment to take charge as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), the state's premier investigating agency.
