Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
Residents of Musuddi Mohalla in Asansol staged a strong protest after the Railway Protection Force (RPF) halted the construction of a road being built on railway land in the Railpar area. The sudden stoppage of work triggered anger among locals, who gathered at the site and demanded that construction resume immediately.
According to residents, a bridge had already been constructed in Musuddi Mohalla and the concreting of the connecting road was nearly complete, with only a portion of the work remaining. They alleged that despite the project being close to completion, the RPF intervened and stopped the construction. While acknowledging that the land belongs to the Railways, residents argued that the road had long been used by locals and was not causing any disruption to railway operations.
Protesters said the road is a vital link for people from the Railpar locality travelling to Chandmari, Kasai Mohalla, Centrom Mall and the local hospital. They warned that they would not allow the road to be closed under any circumstances and threatened to stage a peaceful blockade of GT Road and, if necessary, lay siege to the DRM office if construction work is not resumed.
