Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
Rajasthan continues to grapple with an intense heatwave, with Barmer and Jaisalmer recording searing temperatures close to 46 degrees Celsius, as extreme weather conditions persist across the state. Weather officials said maximum temperatures in most regions are ranging between 44°C and 46°C, remaining significantly above normal and causing widespread discomfort.
Barmer emerged as the hottest location in the past 24 hours, registering a high of 46.4°C, while Jaisalmer followed closely at 46°C. Other cities such as Kota and Chittorgarh also recorded high temperatures of 45.2°C each. Meanwhile, Jawai Dam in Pali recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 22.8°C, highlighting the sharp contrast between day and night conditions.
Despite the prevailing heatwave, parts of the state witnessed slight weather changes, with cloud cover developing in districts including Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Chittorgarh. Light rainfall, drizzle, thunderstorms, and gusty winds were reported in isolated areas, offering brief respite from the scorching heat. Gangapur City recorded the highest rainfall of 6 mm during this period.
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for strong winds and light rainfall in Jaipur, Alwar, and nearby regions, suggesting some temporary relief for residents. However, the overall heatwave conditions are expected to persist, with temperatures likely to remain above normal in the coming days. Warm nights have also been reported in several districts, further intensifying discomfort.
A more noticeable shift in weather is expected between April 28 and April 30, when several parts of Rajasthan may experience thunderstorms, rainfall, and isolated hailstorm activity. While this could ease the intensity of the heatwave, officials caution that relief may be uneven and short-lived as dry conditions continue to dominate large parts of northwest and central India.
