A guardian in Kolkata reported that her 10-year-old daughter was inappropriately touched by an unknown rickshaw puller while traveling to school. The incident occurred between 10:20 and 10:25 hrs, as the child made her way from Bandha Bartala to Nut Behari More.
Authorities classified the act as sexual assault under Section 75(2) of the Bengal Act, 2023, and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police quickly launched an investigation, scrutinizing CCTV footage along the route. The footage was essential in identifying the suspect, leading to the distribution of images among local sources for further assistance.
The investigation led to the identification and arrest of 58-year-old Gautam Bose, a resident of O-55/2, Fathepur 2nd Lane, PS-Metiabruz, Kolkata. His rickshaw was seized as evidence in the case, further solidifying the police's findings.
