No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A woman from Ward No. 1 under the Rishra Municipality has alleged irregularities in the disbursement of benefits under the Lakhi Bhandar scheme, claiming that funds allocated in her name were transferred to another individual's bank account. Urmila Devi alleged that the money intended for her under the scheme was being deposited into the account of a person identified as Vijay Saw. According to her, she discovered the discrepancy after repeatedly failing to receive the benefits that had been sanctioned in her name.
Urmila Devi stated that she approached the concerned authorities on multiple occasions to report the matter. She alleged that each time she raised the issue, she was assured that corrective action would be taken. According to her account, she later visited the bank personally to seek clarification, where officials allegedly informed her that the scheme funds linked to her name were being credited to Vijay Saw's account. She further claimed that while her name appeared on the application form, a different bank account number had been entered in the records.
The woman also alleged that she attempted to pursue the matter further after learning of the discrepancy. According to her, efforts were made to discourage her from raising the issue, and she was allegedly offered ₹5,000. Urmila Devi maintained that she continued seeking clarification regarding the transfer of funds and the details recorded in the application linked to the scheme.
