Ritabrata, Firhad & other rebel members occupy TMC's Metropolitan Bhavan
The internal feud within the Trinamool Congress escalated dramatically on Friday evening as the faction led by Ritabrata Banerjee effectively took control of the party’s original headquarters, Metropolitan Bhavan. Ritabrata Banerjee, alongside Firhad Hakim and other prominent leaders from their camp, visited the building to finalize and sign a formal agreement directly with the property owners. Following the successful lease finalization, the camp announced that they would be operating out of this historic office moving forward, physically displacing the rival "Kalighat Trinamool" faction loyal to Mamata Banerjee.
This aggressive move to claim the party's physical infrastructure comes on the heels of a high-stakes meeting between the Ritabrata faction and the full bench of the Election Commission in Delhi on Thursday. The two opposing sides are currently locked in an intense legal and political tug-of-war over who legally commands the official Trinamool Congress party symbol and its extensive financial treasury. By securing the Metropolitan Bhavan immediately after returning from the national capital, the Ritabrata camp is attempting to establish physical legitimacy to back their claims of being the authentic face of the party.
Party Treasurer Akhruzzaman emphasized that deep emotional ties connect the grassroots workers to this specific office, making its control a symbolic victory for their faction. Leaders were seen occupying the administrative spaces shortly after the contract was inked, declaring the building as their rightful base of operations. Sources within the Ritabrata camp have confirmed that full-scale political and administrative work is scheduled to officially commence from the reclaimed headquarters starting this Saturday morning.
