A mysterious fire broke out early Thursday morning at a bank ATM located in the Munsidanga area of Bankra in Howrah. The intensity of the flames was significant, prompting many people to rush out of their homes in fear of a major disaster. A single fire engine quickly arrived on the scene after receiving the alert and successfully brought the blaze under control.
The ATM's shutter, the machine itself, and the exterior board were all found to be severely damaged. It was discovered that the incident is not just a case of a mysterious fire, but a completely different story involving theft, according to local reports. The Bankra Kobar Para area, where the ATM was located, witnessed the shocking crime where miscreants allegedly looted all the cash from the machine late in the night using a gas cutter.
After successfully stealing the money, the thieves reportedly set the ATM booth on fire, likely with the criminal intent to destroy any forensic evidence that might have been left behind. The location of the ATM presented an additional severe risk, as the booth was situated beneath a market building and close to a large cloth market.
