The Indian Army’s advanced robot dogs, called "Multi-Utility Legged Equipment" (MULE), will participate in Kolkata's Republic Day parade on January 26. These robots are designed for critical military operations, including bomb disposal, reconnaissance, and data collection. Developed entirely with indigenous technology, the robots can operate both through remote control and autonomously, enabling real-time decision-making capabilities.
Preparations for the parade are in full swing at Red Road, with MULE undergoing training alongside military personnel. To facilitate rehearsals, key roads around Red Road, including East and West Hospital Road, Queens Lane, Khidirpur Road, and parts of Rani Rashmoni Road, have been temporarily closed. The deployment of MULE is a significant addition to the parade and reflects advancements in India's military technology.
MULE robots are equipped with cutting-edge features that allow them to traverse complex terrains, move swiftly, and perform tasks in high-risk environments. These robots have been tested extensively for reliability and efficiency in real-world scenarios, such as defusing explosives and collecting intelligence in areas with potential threats. Their inclusion in the parade is a first, marking a milestone for robotic technology in defense.
The introduction of MULE comes amid heightened security measures ahead of Republic Day. Border Security Force (BSF) and state police personnel are already on high alert to prevent cross-border infiltration and other threats. The addition of these robotic systems is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and demonstrating India’s capability to integrate advanced technology into its defense strategy.
