Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens witnessed the first hat-trick of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Saturday during the Group C match between Scotland and West Indies. West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd produced the rare feat with the ball, dismantling Scotland’s lower order in quick succession to swing the contest firmly in his team’s favour. Shepherd’s hat-trick came during Scotland’s chase of a competitive target set by West Indies. He first dismissed Cross, then removed Leask off the pitch for a golden duck and sent Davidson back to the pavilion as his final wicket of this hat-trick. His haul helped dent Scotland’s momentum and kept the defending champions ahead in the game.

West Indies put up a strong total of 182 for 5 in their 20 overs, powered by a match-defining 64 from Shimron Hetmyer. He played a commanding innings, smashing multiple boundaries and sixes to anchor the Caribbean side’s batting effort. Other contributors included Brandon King (35) and Rovman Powell (24), helping West Indies post a challenging target.

West Indies defeated Scotland in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group C match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, posting 182/5 in 20 overs with a powerful batting display that included Shimron Hetmyer’s 64 off 36 and useful contributions from Brandon King (35) and Sherfane Rutherford (26) before restricting Scotland to 147 all out in 18.5 overs in the chase. Scotland’s chase never got going, leaving West Indies winners by a comfortable margin as their bowlers applied pressure throughout the innings.
