RPF nabs 14 Bangladeshi nationals from train with fake Aadhaar and PAN

In a significant operation ahead of the Assembly elections, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested 14 Bangladeshi nationals from the North East Express at Jalpaiguri Road Railway Station during a late-night raid. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, RPF personnel conducted a targeted search as the train arrived, focusing on the general compartment where the suspects were identified and detained.

Among those apprehended were women and children. During the search, officials recovered multiple Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, mobile phones, and foreign currency, including Malaysian notes. Preliminary verification revealed that the Aadhaar documents were forged, raising concerns about organised illegal entry and identity fraud.

During initial interrogation, the detainees reportedly admitted to being residents of different districts in Bangladesh who had illegally crossed the border into Northeast India. They had boarded the train from Kamakhya and were allegedly planning to travel to Delhi before moving further to Jammu and Kashmir. The RPF has initiated further legal proceedings and is continuing its investigation into the network facilitating such cross-border movement.
