The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has officially inaugurated its new headquarters, Keshav Kunj, at Jhandewalan in New Delhi. Spanning four acres with a built-up area of five lakh square feet, the state-of-the-art facility was constructed at a cost of ₹150 crore, entirely funded by public donations from 75,000 contributors. The complex is designed to support the Sangh’s activities, featuring three 12-story towers named Sadhana, Prerana, and Archana, providing office spaces, residential areas, conference halls, and auditoriums.
The Sadhana Tower houses RSS offices, while Prerana and Archana are designated as residential complexes. The new headquarters includes three large auditoriums with a total seating capacity of 1,300 people, one of which is named after former VHP president Ashok Singhal. The building also features a five-bed hospital, a library named Keshav Pustakalaya on the 10th floor, and a mess and canteen. A Hanuman temple is also part of the premises, with electric lamps replacing traditional diyas.
Between the Prerana and Archana Towers is a manicured lawn featuring a statue of RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. This open space has been designated for daily shakhas. The complex currently has parking for 135 cars, with future expansion allowing up to 270 vehicles. The building’s design incorporates sustainability measures, including solar panels covering 20% of its power needs and a sewage treatment plant ensuring zero sewage discharge into city drains.
An RSS functionary stated that the organization had been operating from the Udaseen Ashram in Jhandewalan for the past eight years while Keshav Kunj was under construction. Functionaries gradually shifted to the new facility from September 2024, completing the move by February 2025. “As many as 75,000 people have donated anything between ₹5 to several lakhs of rupees to help build the headquarters,” said an RSS official.
The windows of the headquarters incorporate traditional Rajasthani and Gujarati architectural facades, and over 1,000 granite frames have been used to minimize wood consumption. The complex also houses offices of RSS-affiliated publications, including Panchjanya, Organiser, Suruchi Prakashan, and the Dilli Prant Karyalay. There are 13 elevators, including five in each of the first two towers and three in the third. Each tower is also equipped with a dedicated service elevator.
On February 19, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will host the Karyakarta Milan at Keshav Kunj, ahead of the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha Baithak in Bengaluru from March 21-23. The foundation stone for Keshav Kunj was laid in November 2016, but the project faced delays before its completion in 2025. The facility is now fully operational, supporting the Sangh’s administrative, research, and residential needs.
