Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar’s “Stop Migration, Provide Jobs Yatra” came to a close in Patna on Friday, marking the end of a 27-day-long campaign across Bihar. Launched on March 16 from the historically significant Gandhi Ashram in West Champaran, the yatra sought to highlight rising unemployment, youth neglect, and forced migration from the state.
The concluding event in Patna saw top Congress leaders lend their full support. Former Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot joined the final leg and addressed the gathering. The show of strength signaled the Congress party’s intent to mobilize youth and strengthen its presence in Bihar ahead of upcoming elections.
Speaking to the media, Pilot did not confirm Tejashwi Yadav as the CM face, saying, “If we get a majority, the Congress Committee and the high command will decide on it.” His diplomatic response hinted at ongoing alliance dynamics within the opposition bloc in Bihar.
The pilot didn’t hold back in criticizing the state and central governments. He accused both of failing Bihar’s youth, saying, “They have been betrayed repeatedly. The promises made to them remain unfulfilled.” His comments echoed the core message of the yatra, which aimed to demand employment opportunities and dignity for the youth.
The leader also addressed national security issues. On the extradition of terrorist Tahawwur Rana, Pilot remarked that the UPA government had originally initiated the extradition process and welcomed the development. “This is commendable, and we stand with it. The terrorist must receive the harshest punishment possible,” he said.
When multiple questions were directed at Kanhaiya Kumar during the press interaction, Pilot stepped in to field most of them, indicating the party’s effort to present a unified and seasoned front. The yatra, though centered around Kanhaiya, was clearly a larger political campaign for the Congress in Bihar.
