Bollywood actor Salman Khan has received a death threat from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, demanding Rs.5 crore to "end the enmity" between the actor and the gang. The threat, sent via WhatsApp to Mumbai Traffic Police, warned that Khan's fate would be worse than that of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, who was recently murdered, allegedly by the Bishnoi gang. The message read, "If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he must pay Rs.5 crore, or his fate will be worse than Siddique's."
In response, Mumbai Police have increased security around Khan's Bandra residence and have launched an investigation to trace the source of the message. This is not the first threat from the Bishnoi gang, as Khan has been targeted multiple times due to his involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, a revered animal for the Bishnoi community. The feud dates back years, with Lawrence Bishnoi vowing revenge against Khan.
Just days before the threat, Sukha alias Sukhbir Balbir Singh, a key Bishnoi gang member, was arrested in Haryana. Singh had been allegedly plotting to assassinate Khan, working directly with a Pakistani handler, Dogar, to smuggle high-powered firearms such as AK-47s, M16s, and AK-92s. The weapons were intended for an attack on Khan, which Singh had contracted other gang members to carry out.
The investigation has uncovered that the Bishnoi gang had deployed over 60 operatives to monitor Khan’s movements. They had conducted reconnaissance at his Bandra residence, Panvel farmhouse, and shooting locations. The gang was even attempting to recruit minors to act as sharpshooters for the assassination plot. In previous incidents, members of the gang fired rounds outside Khan’s home and attempted to trespass at his Panvel farmhouse using fake identities. Khan's security remains on high alert, with the police closely monitoring the situation.
