Salman Khan, Vishnu Manchu cancel events after tragic Air India crash

The crash of an Air India flight near Ahmedabad has sent shockwaves across the country, leading to the cancellation of major public events, including those involving Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Vishnu Manchu. The plane, carrying 242 passengers en route to London’s Gatwick Airport, crashed shortly after takeoff on Thursday afternoon, prompting an outpouring of grief and nationwide mourning.

Salman Khan, who was set to attend a press meet in Mumbai for the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL), called off the event following news of the crash. The league’s co-founders, Veer Patel and Ishan Lokhande, were also scheduled to be present. The ISRL team released a joint statement expressing condolences and stating their decision to postpone the event was made in solidarity with the grieving families. “As we all have just heard the tragic incident that has taken place today... We stand united with the Nation,” the ISRL press note read. “All our condolences and prayers are with the affected families. Jointly, we have made a responsible decision to reschedule this event to a future date.

Meanwhile, actor-producer Vishnu Manchu also postponed the trailer launch of his much-awaited film Kannappa. The trailer release, which was originally scheduled for June 13, along with a pre-release event in Indore, has now been deferred. Vishnu took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his grief and explain the postponement. “My heart breaks for the lives lost in today’s Ahmedabad Air India crash. In deep mourning, we’re deferring the #Kannappa trailer release by one day and cancelling tomorrow’s Indore pre-release event,” he wrote. “My prayers are with the families during this unimaginably difficult time.”

The entertainment industry has responded with sensitivity, acknowledging that this is not a moment for celebration or promotion but for reflection, mourning, and national solidarity. While fans were looking forward to these events, both Salman Khan and Vishnu Manchu’s decisions have been widely appreciated for their empathy and respect during a national tragedy.
