Massive fire engulfs chemical factory in Howrah, 15 tenders rushed to spot
A major burglary took place at the Mehta Building, Canning Street, Kolkata, on the night of March 13-14. The targeted shop, Anant Enterprises, deals in salon and grooming equipment. Thieves made away with hair-cutting trimmers, chargers, and other accessories worth ₹6 lakh.
The case was officially registered at Hare Street Police Station on March 18 (Case No. 63/25). Acting swiftly on human intelligence and CCTV footage analysis, the police tracked down the accused within hours. Md. Islam (37) was arrested for the burglary.
Remarkably, the entire stolen inventory was recovered within 12 hours of registering the case. Alongside the stolen goods, police also seized the tools and instruments used for the burglary. This rapid success highlights the efficiency and coordination of the investigating team.
Authorities revealed that the CCTV footage played a crucial role in tracing the suspect. Eyewitness accounts and local intelligence inputs further strengthened the case, leading to the swift apprehension of the accused.
Currently, Md. Islam is in police custody until March 21. Further investigations are underway to determine if he was acting alone or part of a larger network targeting commercial establishments.
