The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) Board on Thursday officially announced the results for the state's engineering, technology, pharmacy, and architecture entrance exam. In an impressive administrative feat, the board processed and declared the results in a record timeframe of just 26 days following the completion of the papers. For the first time in the history of the state joint entrance system, examination centers were established outside the geographical boundaries of West Bengal, accommodating candidates from broader regional zones. Officials indicated that the centralized online counseling process for university admissions is slated to commence by the end of this month.
The freshly released merit list highlights excellent academic performances from both Kolkata and various peripheral districts. Shashwat Banerjee from Salt Lake, representing Nalanda Academy, clinched the coveted Rank 1 position across the state. He is closely followed by Sauriddha Mandal from Bishnupur (Vivekananda Mission School, Joka) in second place, and Umang Bhat from Raniganj (Purba International School) securing the third spot. Other students dominating the top ten include Rahul Konar, Sarban Bhattacharya, Arha Bhattacharya, Srijan Shur, Manish Senapati, Sabyasachi Laskar, and Debjit Pal, with prominent institutions like South Point High School securing multiple spots in the top tier.
The extensive state-level examination was successfully conducted on May 24 across a massive network of 267 specialized centers. Out of these, 264 venues were situated within West Bengal, while the board expanded its structural footprint by operating two centers in Tripura and one center in Assam to facilitate out-of-state applicants. A total of 120,856 candidates appeared for the highly competitive examination this year. To guarantee an absolute fair, transparent, and leak-proof assessment environment, the board enforced stringent security measures, which included biometric verification and a comprehensive ban on all electronic gadgets such as smartwatches, mobile phones, and calculators.
