"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP and West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya, along with his colleague and Jharkhand Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Monday. The purpose of the high-level meeting was to discuss an issue that has become a prominent political debate: the alleged demographic changes occurring in the states of West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Samik Bhattacharya later confirmed the meeting and the subject of discussion in a post on the social media platform X. He stated that they held discussions with the Central Home Minister regarding the demographic changes underway in both West Bengal and Jharkhand. This meeting was intended to attract the central government's attention to the population-related concerns being voiced by the party leadership in these two eastern states.
The issue of demographic change has been raised seriously by BJP leaders in both states, and the meeting with Amit Shah highlights the party's intent to elevate the concern to the level of the Union Home Ministry. The Home Minister reportedly listened attentively to the concerns raised by the two BJP MPs, and the discussion also touched upon the possibility of further action regarding the matter.
