Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the rape and murder case of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has declared his innocence, claiming that he is being framed. Roy, who was arrested on August 10 based on CCTV footage and the discovery of his Bluetooth headset at the crime scene, has consistently maintained his innocence to his lawyer, Kavita Sarkar.
According to his lawyer, he maintained his innocence during the polygraph test as well. Sanjay Roy was asked 10 questions, including what he did next after allegedly murdering the woman, as per media reports. He told the CBI sleuths that the question was invalid because he didn't murder her.
Reportdely, Roy claimed in the polygraph test that the woman was unconscious and 'covered in blood' when he entered the seminar hall of the hospital.
Roy further stated that he did not know the victim and panicked upon discovering the scene. When questioned about why he did not inform the police if he was innocent, he said he was scared that no one would believe him.
The trainee doctor was found raped and murdered inside the hospital’s seminar hall during her 36-hour shift. The autopsy revealed signs of sexual assault and 25 external and internal injuries on her body.
