Terror plot foiled as 8 Jaish terrorists nabbed by Gujarat ATS
Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Saokat Molla has formally moved the Calcutta High Court, alleging severe violations of his fundamental human rights while in law enforcement custody. The veteran politician filed a special petition seeking the court's urgent intervention to protect his dignity and personal safety. After hearing the initial submission from his legal counsel, the Calcutta High Court granted Molla formal permission to file a comprehensive case regarding his grievances, marking a new legal front in his ongoing judicial custody.
The core of Molla's legal grievance centers around the manner in which investigating authorities have been handling his transit and movement since his high-profile arrest. The former legislator claims that he is being intentionally paraded from one neighborhood to another under the guise of investigations, which he argues serves no active judicial purpose and instead exposes him to public hostility. His legal team argued that these continuous public transfers deliberately compromise his basic human rights and strip away the standard procedural protections guaranteed to an individual under arrest.
This judicial development follows heightened tension in the South 24 Parganas region, where Molla was recently escorted by law enforcement to Jibantala for crime scene reconstruction. During that movement, massive crowds gathered along the route to heckle him, raising derogatory slogans and playing controversial campaign songs. By securing the High Court's permission to challenge these actions, Molla’s legal team intends to seek specific protective guidelines to restrict how investigative agencies manage his transit during active field investigations.
