Saree manufacturing worker dies of electrocution in Cossipore factory

A 33-year-old worker lost his life after being electrocuted at a saree manufacturing unit in Kolkata’s Cossipore area. The victim, identified as Bijoy Paswan, was a resident of Bhatpara in Jagatdal, North 24 Parganas. The incident occurred while he was engaged in his routine duties at the factory. Co-workers immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, but medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival.

The sudden tragedy has sent shockwaves through the local industrial community in Cossipore. Colleagues described Paswan as a diligent worker who had been commuting from Jagatdal to Kolkata for his livelihood. While the factory management has expressed grief over the incident, several workers have raised concerns regarding the electrical safety standards maintained within the premises, especially during the high-production season.
