SBI to manage Ram Temple donations following theft scandal

The Ayodhya Ram Temple Trust has initiated a comprehensive management overhaul, stripping all 36 employees previously tasked with counting donations of their duties. This sweeping change follows credible reports of donation theft and subsequent arrests related to fraudulent activities at the site.

To ensure complete transparency and integrity in financial operations, the responsibility for counting all offerings has been officially transferred to the State Bank of India (SBI). The bank will now deploy its own regular staff to handle the donation processing. This decision marks a significant shift in the temple's administrative protocols, reflecting a broader strategy to bolster security and accountability across the facility’s financial infrastructure.

Officials confirmed that this transition is part of an ongoing effort to tighten oversight and safeguard all contributions received from devotees. The deployment of bank personnel is expected to provide a robust audit trail and prevent further incidents of internal fraud, marking a new chapter in the management of the temple's growing financial assets.
