SC rejects apology, slams Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna for 'Wilful Disobedience'

The Supreme Court refused to accept the apology from Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved MD Acharya Balkrishna regarding misleading advertisements. The court criticized their apology, saying it seemed insincere and that they were only apologizing because they had no other choice. Despite earlier promises to stop publishing misleading ads, Patanjali Ayurved allegedly continued to do so, leading to contempt of court charges.

"We don’t accept it (apology), we decline to accept this. We consider it a wilful, deliberate disobedience of the undertaking," the court said. It also criticized them for sending the apology to the media first, suggesting they were seeking publicity. The matter is scheduled for further action on April 16.

Additionally, the court reprimanded officials from Uttarakhand's state licensing authority for delaying action on complaints against Divya Pharmacy since 2018.
