Scammers use Sukanta Majumdar’s face for fake loan scheme ads!

Fraudsters have recently circulated a fake advertisement on social media featuring the image of Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar, promoting a fraudulent loan scheme. The advertisement claims that the minister has endorsed a low-interest loan offering, which is false. Upon noticing this ad, Sukanta Majumdar immediately filed a complaint with the Superintendent of Police in South Dinajpur, Chinmoy Mittal, requesting urgent intervention to halt the advertisement's circulation and apprehend those responsible for the fraud.

In his letter to the police, Sukanta Majumdar highlighted that his image was being used unlawfully to promote a loan app, which he confirmed had no association with him. He specifically requested that the police act swiftly to remove his image from the fraudulent advertisement and take appropriate legal action. The minister also drew attention to similar incidents, noting that other political leaders, including several ministers and chief ministers, have had their images misused similarly by these fraudulent schemes.

The loan apps, as noted in the complaint, offer loans at low interest rates but are misleading the public by using high-profile political figures to falsely legitimize their services. Sukanta Majumdar further expressed concern that these scams have been proliferating, affecting many citizens who might be drawn to these offers. He urged both local and state authorities to carry out a thorough investigation into these fraudulent practices and take legal measures against the perpetrators to prevent further deception.
