In a unfortunate incident, the railway track between Sealda and Bidhannagar stations suffered a collapse due to heavy rainfall on Tuesday night. The incident occurred around 6:30 am, near the Kankurgachi rail cabin, resulting in the disruption of train services on the Sealda-Naihati branch of the main line.
The collapse was attributed to the overnight heavy rain, which led to the soil along the track giving way. As a consequence, train movement on the suburban line from Sealdah to Dum Dum had to be regulated, and five local train services had to be cancelled.
The authorities promptly responded to the situation and worked to restore the affected rail section. However, the disruption caused inconvenience to commuters and necessitated alternative travel arrangements.
While some trains were rerouted to other lines to minimize the impact, several services continued to run as usual on unaffected sections of the railway network.
Passengers are advised to stay updated with official announcements and alternative transport arrangements until the track is fully repaired and train services resume to normalcy.
