Section 163 imposed in Noida and Greater Noida till May 30 ahead of Bakrid and festivals

Section 163 has been imposed across Noida and Greater Noida from May 28 to May 30 as authorities intensified security arrangements ahead of Bakrid and other upcoming festivals. Officials said the restrictions were introduced following concerns over possible law-and-order disturbances after recent labour protests in the district. The administration warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone violating the restrictions or police guidelines during the three-day period.

Under the restrictions, gatherings of more than five people at public places will not be permitted during the enforcement period. Authorities said protests, demonstrations and dharnas would only be allowed at designated protest sites, while public protests without permission would remain prohibited across the district. Police and administrative officials have directed residents to comply with all instructions issued during this period.

The administration has also imposed restrictions on drone operations and aerial photography around government offices, important establishments and assembly-related areas. Officials said surveillance and monitoring measures have been strengthened in sensitive zones to prevent any untoward incident during the festival period. Additional police personnel will be deployed across Noida and Greater Noida for security duties.

Police said checking drives and patrolling have been intensified in crowded marketplaces, transport hubs and other public locations. Authorities stated that precautionary arrangements were necessary because large gatherings during festivals and protests could create security concerns. Officials said law enforcement agencies have been instructed to remain on alert throughout the enforcement period.

Section 163 is a legal provision that allows the administration to impose restrictions in order to prevent situations that may disturb public peace and law and order. Once enforced, the administration can prohibit gatherings, restrict demonstrations and regulate certain activities in sensitive areas. Violating orders issued under Section 163 can result in police action, detention or legal proceedings.

The administration also issued a public advisory asking residents not to spread or believe rumours on social media or other communication platforms. Officials appealed to citizens to cooperate with the police and follow all restrictions to ensure peaceful celebrations and public safety across the district during the upcoming festivals.
